Under the leadership of Antonio Ruiz, EY Tax & Law Leader for Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, EY is strengthening its presence in El Salvador with two strategic additions: Oscar Torres joins as Associate Partner for Law, and Mauricio Orellana as Associate Partner in the Tax practice.  

The arrival of these highly experienced professionals reflects the growing dynamism of El Salvador’s economy and the increasing demand for top-tier legal and tax services from companies seeking to expand their operations in the region.

Oscar Torres boasts over 18 years of experience in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, corporate restructurings, and advisory services for banking and financial transactions. He has advised major international companies across multiple sectors and is actively involved in matters related to shareholder disputes and public bidding processes. He holds an MBA from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in collaboration with ISEADE, as well as a postgraduate degree in New Technology Law. He was recognized by Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, IFLR1000 and LACCA Approved.

Mauricio Orellana brings more than 20 years of experience in the tax field.  He previously worked at El Salvador’s Tax Authority and at one of the Big Four firms in the Tax & Legal area, where he led projects in tax planning, audits, and due diligence processes within the financial sector.  He also headed the tax department of one of the country’s largest multinationals, combining tax and financial responsibilities. His academic background includes a Law degree from Universidad Dr. Matías Delgado and an International Graduate Degree in Finance from ISEADE-FEPADE, where he is currently completing his studies. He was recognized by ITR World Tax, IFLR1000 and Legal 500.

Torres and Orellana are joined by an outstanding team of attorneys: Guisela Rodas and Ariana Miranda, formerly Associate Attorneys and part of the Corporate and Transactional team at GarciaBodan; William Escobar and Carlos Pineda, associates from the Tax team at Consortium Legal; Violeta Hernández, formerly an associate at ECIJA; and Alexander Morales, who previously worked at boutique firm IUSPUBLIK.
