During the research period, the team provided legal defense at the Administrative Board of Tax Appeals. In the judgment of the voluntary appeal, the qualified fine of 150% was reduced to 75% of legal fine, thus reducing the debt from $ 20 million to $ 12 million. In addition, the team provided legal defense to other companies including Fundação de Apoio da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (FAURGS) and Conselho Seccional da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil do Rio Grande do Sul.

The tax department at Eichenberg, Lobato, Abreu & Advogados Associados cover all taxes matters and represents its clients before the federal, state, and municipal courts. Edmundo Cavalcanti Eichenberg leads the team.

The past year the team provided legal defense to Ediba in which it filed a writ of mandamus in favour of the clients to cancel the collection of ITBI on the paid-in properties that in cases of payment are exempt. Other cases are confidential.
