The firm is also assisting a client with both tax controversy and indirect tax matters. The group represented the client in this ongoing matter before the Court of Tax Appeals.

In 2017, Shiendy Loufer Casana, Septfonette Fe Balusdan and Jose Emilio Teves joined the firm as a junior associates. In 2018, Angelo Macaranas joined the firm as a junior accountant. Mabel Buted joined the firm as a senior associate. Francis Kavvin Escobar joined the firm as a legal assistant.

The team has the capability to help clients navigate through the trade and investment policy landscape in particular. In addition, the firm also has global wealth management strategies. The tax group assists clients with Philippine succession and taxation laws, and the legal implications of trusts and other structures. The firm has a broad client base across various industries, including consumer goods and retail, energy, mining and infrastructure, financial institutions, healthcare, industrials, manufacturing and transportation and technology, media and telecoms.

Zambrano Gruba Caganda & Advincula

Zambrano Gruba Caganda & Advincula offers high-grade contentious and non-contentious tax services to various clients, including energy corporation AES, Fortune 500 companies, Philippine Airlines, the Philippine National Bank and Asia United Bank Corporation. In 2017, the firm allied with WongPartnership. It has become a member of the WGP regional law network that includes firms from the Middle East, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore.

The firm is helping the Bankers Association of the Philippines on general corporate tax matters. The tax team advises the tax matters including issues in respect of proposed amendments to the National Internal Revenue Code. It also involves matters pursuant to the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion programme that could affect financial banking institutions. In addition, the tax group also advised the Sabre Travel Network on a tax controversy matter. It was a tax assessment for taxable year 2009.
