Overview

Svalner is a member of the international WTS Global network. It is one of the leading Swedish advisers in real estate and construction taxes, transactional tax, indirect taxes, and litigation. Key partners are Carl Lindberg, David Klingberg and Fredrik Berndt. Managing partner is Viktor Sandberg. Fellow partners John Hovsenius and Magnus Johansson are known for their transactional pedigree on the Swedish market.  

The firm acted as lead counsel in the Roger Samuelsson case on litigation pertaining to Swedish tax residency valued at SEK 1 billion. It also advised Hemmaplan Fastigheter on due diligence, tax structuring and share purchase agreement advice. Actor Leif Edlund received contentious representation in a landmark case relating to tax residency which garnered media attention for its SEK 2,5 billion valuation.  

Managing director Henrik Timén arrived from Polestar on January 1st, 2024, with director Gustav Good from the same company. Director Nathalie Katz joined the tax practice from Vialto Partners on February 1st, 2025. Senior manager Ida Larsson and managers Jacob Malmsten, Lihar Alkasalias, Emelie Mik and Ted Wigelius departed the firm in 2024.

The firm advised KPA Pension in connection with structuring and share price agreement advice. It also acted for AXA Logistics in a cross-border transaction. Transfer pricing benchmarking and debt-capacity analyses were undertaken for assorted clients.

Directors Gustav Åberg and Tobias Lantoo were appointed in 2022.
