Overview

KPMG Spain advises assorted domestic and international clients on the full tax advisory spectrum. Specialties are VAT, controversy, M&A transactions, real estate, and transfer pricing for the IBEX 35. Partner Julio César García is the specialist litigator and head of tax. The firm achieved a favourable ruling before the Court of Justice declaring that the regional portion of the hydrocarbons tax was contrary to European law, culminating in a muti-billion-euro reimbursement. It also won an important litigation case before the Supreme Court on anti-avoidance mechanisms. KPMG was lead advisor to Liberty Media Corporation in its acquisition of Dorna for €3.7 billion.

The firm advised Comdata on vendor due diligence for all cross-border subsidiaries. It also acted for PGGM in the acquisition of RESA pertaining to tax structuring. Dispute resolution, intragroup transactions, and benchmarking characterised transfer pricing engagements.

Partner Víctor Mendoza retired from the firm in November 2022.
