Overview

Brækhus is a full-service law firm with a large tax complement on the Norwegian market. It is renowned for its pedigree in indirect tax advisory work, pertaining to digital economics, renewables and construction. The practice is overseen by partner Nils Eriksen. Corporate partner Kim Fosshaug works alongside partners Antonio Holstad and Torbjørn Stokke who are in the global mobility services area.  

The firm represented Fincantieri before the Tax Appeal Board in a landmark ruling on penalty taxation. It also assisted Mammoet on a VAT interest claim against the tax authorities.  

Partner Kim Fosshaug and senor manager Ann Michelle Larsen joined the firm from PwC in 2024.

Tax

Brækhus has an established tax practice comprising sixteen practitioners. Indirect tax is a pronounced specialism for advisory work across renewables, construction, financial services, and digitisation. Indirect tax is led by partner Nils Eriksen. Senior lawyer Maren Mathilde Mikkelsen is a reputed practitioner in this discipline.

The firm advised Mammoet on VAT litigation with the Norwegian Tax Authority.  It also acted for a client in a landmark customs case before the Tax Appeal Board.

Partner Torbjørn Stokke joined the firm in April 2022 from PwC. Associate partner Line Katinka Juuhl arrived in January 2023.
