Pallavi is an established expert in taxation. In addition to her Chartered Accountancy expertise, she is trained as a lawyer and has worked with global and domestic businesses in Europe, Asia and India over the past two decades. Her extensive domain knowledge and solution-based approach have enabled her to successfully deliver results. Pallavi authored a best seller book titled “Transfer Pricing Demystified” which has seen 3 editions through 2013, 2015 & 2019.
Pallavi has 20-years professional experience, serving clients across large multinationals, major publicly held companies to family-owned and non-profit organizations. She has also played a strategic role in advising on transactions which utilize her experience in valuation, corporate and tax laws combined with her understanding of finance and accounting. She has often worked with Indian families to help navigate complexities of succession. Pallavi has diverse experience in international tax and transfer pricing laws and has expertise in tax structuring, business restructurings, business valuation and intra-group transactions.
She has represented clients in transfer pricing & International tax litigation matters in which she has been successful in getting relief on method controversies & comparability adjustments, in India. She has successfully handled complex international tax issues of treaty shopping, GAAR, DTAA relief and interpretation of SEP, interpretation of Double Taxation Avoidance Treaty in the context of the interplay between FTS & Royalty etc. On the compliance side she has been able to lower withholding certificates for complex transactions. She has also successfully argued matters of Deemed Income on Shares issued at higher than NAV for Start-ups & angel investors. She is also one of the foremost tax experts on tax laws affecting Charitable Trusts / Institutions in India.
