Dan Dascălu heads the litigation team of D&B David și Baias, and the CEE PwC TCDR Network. He represents clients before administrative authorities, courts, arbitral tribunals, the European Commission and the Court of Justice of the EU. Dan is recognized as band 1 lawyer in Tax in the  Chambers and Partners 2021 Edition as well as Leading Individual in Tax in the Legal 500, 2021 Edition.

  • Successfully assisted a Romanian Subsidiary of a German retailer in a dispute involving an assessment of additional building taxes and ancillary liabilities in the amount of EUR 8 million with the risk of spreading in other local municipalities..
  • Assisted Vista Leasing IFN SA in seeking the annulment of a tax decision imposing additional VAT. The oral and written arguments drafted and presented by our department’s attorneys before the first-instance court determine this court to grant in full Vista’s application. The matter value was RON 18,883,541.
  • Assisted Petrotel Lukoil in a very complex tax litigation case, concerning the application of national excise tax legislation and subsequently brought the case before the EU Court of Justice. The case is still pending with the national courts however the ruling of the EU Court of Justice, which is mandatory, is clearly in favor of the Company. The matter value was EUR 20,000,000.
