Albagli Zaliasnik

Albagli Zaliasnik is a full service firm focused on corporate, litigation and intellectual property. A leading firm in the Chilean market, Baraona Fischer & Cía has a strong tax team for advisory work, in particular focused on all the tax aspects of corporate matters, M&A transactions and financing. The firm also has a strong litigation practice area. The tax practice benefits from a highly qualified tax-compliance team of auditors. Founded two years ago by experienced lawyers Paola Bruzzone Goldsmith and González Azócar, the firm has gained a reputation in the Chilean market in three areas of tax: corporate tax, private clients and tax consulting. Since its opening in 1923, the global accounting firm has been tied to the Chilean market developing a strong tax planning, consulting and advisory practice. Moreover, since 2015 Deloitte Chile and Deloitte Canada have combined their operations to provide more services in North and South America. Deloitte is one of the largest tax and legal services providers in Chile and it focuses on M&A transactions, family offices, litigation and transfer pricing. In addition, the team advises clients on the impact of the BEPS on clients’ operations. 

Over the research period, the firm provided tax advisory to a large company on different projects and it provided tax advice on a merger between two financial institutions.

PwC in Chile is among the top players in corporate and transactional tax. The firm is also a leading firm in the transfer pricing practice area. It offers services in international tax, tax compliance and consultancy and advises both international and domestic clients. The tax team has expanded its tax controversy practice area that includes 12 professional focused only on tax controversy and dispute resolution. 

Over the research period, the tax team was part of many transactions. For example, it advised Salmones Ice-Val on the sale process of the company to another Chilean company. Another interesting mandate saw the team representing Mapfre Group on the sale of its corporate building. The tax controversy group advised local and foreign clients in different cases before the Chilean IRS and before the tax and customs courts. All the clients’ names remained confidential.  

The tax controversy group made the addition of Joaquín Urra Trujillo, who left the Chilean Tax Administration.

Ulloa & Cía Abogados, founded in 2016 by Nicolás Ulloa and Adriana Zaidan, is a law firm specialised in tax matters. Despite its young age, it has grown and has acquired a reputation in the international tax area. In addition, the firm is very active in controversy.
